Gubernija continues its global triumph: four awards for the non-alcoholic Brown Ale

Gubernija Brewery has been recognised not only in Europe, but also abroad. The jury of the World Beer Awards 2023, one of the world’s biggest competitions, has awarded Gubernija’s non-alcoholic Brown Ale, brewed at the brewery, four top awards.

Gubernija’s non-alcoholic Brown Ale was voted the best non-alcoholic beer of the year in the world by the experts of the World Beer Awards 2023. The non-alcoholic Brown Ale also triumphed in the World’s Best Dark Non-Alcoholic Beer category. It also won a double award for the best non-alcoholic dark beer in Lithuania.

“This year is undoubtedly one of the most successful years for Gubernia in the last decade. Our products won four medals at the European Beer Challenge 2023 in May, but that was just the beginning. We have won the same number of awards for our non-alcoholic Brown Ale on a global scale. These numerous awards in the highest category are particularly important for us, as brewers from all over the world participate in this competition. But we are not going to rest on our laurels – the accolades we have received are even more inspiring for our team and oblige us to offer new, unique, and quality products to consumers. We will not stop experimenting and surprising our consumers, because their positive feedback is the greatest reward,” says Artūras Perednis, Production Director of the Šiauliai brewery.

World’s most renowned experts on the jury

The World Beer Awards 2023 is organised by thedrinksreport.com, the largest online platform for beverage professionals. The beverages that receive the highest scores are universally regarded as the best in their categories.

The World Beer Awards 2023 jury is made up of the world’s most renowned beverage tasters, brewers, traders, journalists and sommeliers. The 2023 jury is chaired by renowned British journalist Adrian Tierney-Jones. His reviews have been published in publications such as The Daily Telegrapgh, Sunday Times and Travel Magazine. He is the author of the beer anthology Beer and the book 1001 Beers You Must Try Before You Die.

“The recognition from all these beverage giants for our non-alcoholic beer marks a global recognition for the Gubernija brewery team. After all, the awards are for every member of our team who has contributed to the development of Brown Ale, from the technologists who developed the recipes to the colleagues who ensure a smooth production process. We are sincerely proud not only to represent Lithuania on a global scale, but also to leave a significant mark on the global beer map,” says Perednis.

Gubernija’s non-alcoholic Brown Ale is the first product of its kind in Lithuania, with a pure and rich taste, balanced by the bitterness of Herkules and SAAZ hops. A blend of three malts creates a sweet caramel and dried fruit aroma, and the World Beer Awards 2023 jury has also noted even more of the drink’s strengths.

Their assessment is available on the official World Beer Awards 2023 website: “This non-alcoholic beer has a dark chestnut brown color and a smooth head. The nose is pleasantly tickled by aromas of raspberry and blackcurrant. The beer fills the mouth pleasantly, with additional hints of chocolate cake and liquorice.

According to a survey carried out last year by AC Nielsen, Gubernija’s non-alcoholic Brown Ale is the No 1 dark non-alcoholic beer in Lithuania. In total, 131 000 liters of non-alcoholic Brown Ale were produced last year – almost two full train tanks. Launched in 2022, it has been exported to Serbia, Japan and Georgia since the first year of production, and to Poland since this year.
