What is the most exotic dish you’ve tasted? And what kind of the most exotic dish have you made for yourself? Our colleague, Vaidas Strazdas, the master of the Anykščiai Wine Boiler House, does not take long to find answers – he grows crickets at home, which are especially popular in Asia, and deliciously prepared, is the biggest delicacy for Vaidas.
Vaidas says that he discovered such a hobby relatively recently – it was an eye-catching advertisement about cricket eggs for sale. Growing crickets at home, according to a colleague, is not difficult at all – all you have to do is make sure that those eggs are moist and warm, turn on a special lamp and keep it in a special box. And how beautifully they hatch from hatching eggs!
Then, Vaidas says, they need to be caught and frozen, and if you want to taste them, slightly boil and fry them with your favorite spices. “At first, the taste may seem a bit unusual, but the further away, the tastier. And healthy – it is estimated that crickets contain about 60 percent. of protein!” says Vaidas.
